Malaysia is a multicultural country. Describe a festival you celebrate in Malaysia.
Snow crunched under my feet as I walked towards the school. It was a school holiday.
Wait, then why would I go to school during a school holiday?
Well, I was going to meet my friends there.
Kaggy just jumped up and down, running and landing on all the snow piles. "Wheeeee!" I just laughed as he made a snow angel.
"Lynx."
I turned my head.
Yes!
They were here!
I walked towards them and they were standing there holding a hamper.
"You said these hampers bring lots of 'Ong', right?" Blue held up a red coloured hamper. I wanted to squeal.
I received their hamper and they handed me some red coloured packets.
Holy Sherlock
Ang pows!
I kept thanking them and they told me to follow them.
Kaggy kept on making snow angels and I gave him an ang pow.
………………………………………………………………………..
"Guys? What's going on?" I was being dragged into a giant crowd by my friends.
"Well, Lynx, what's Chinese New Year without..." Dream chuckled and suddenly a drum caught my attention.
"LION DANCE!!" I squealed and Kaggy ran and hid behind Dream out of fear.
"Normally people will go back to their hometowns and they would follow traditional rules, like, don't clean the house on the first day, eat half a day of vegetarian meals on the first day and they will also do prayers for good luck and safety and so on." I overheard an Indian lady talking to a Malay lady.
………………………………………………………………………………
I was surprised the house was empty. Dream said he would hold a party here.
"Dream...Ink...Blue...?" I carefully walked up the stairs and down again when I saw nothing.
I heard something...strange...
"H-Huh?"
It came again.
"I-Ink...?" I slowly walked out of the house.
A deep growl came from somewhere. I was really nervous.
Wait...
Where's Kaggy?
"Ka-Kagerou??" I was alarmed.
I really wasn't sure what was happening. Another growl came from my left and I jumped.
I really need to find Kaggy.
"Kaggy???"
ROOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAR!!!!!!!!!!
"AAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!!!" I was so scared I couldn't move.
"Hey!!"
I turned around.
"M-Mr Nightmare??"
Mr Nightmare came out of nowhere, placing himself in front of me and the thing.
The red thing resembled a picture I saw before.
That's Nian!
"Come at me, bro!!"
Mr Nightmare was wearing red, red just like the monster. He had these lanterns hooked around him.
He threw something that started to pop at Nian.
Those are fireworks!
He started banging pots and pans and it was suddenly scared.
Nian ran away and I was left speechless. Mr Nightmare turned around.
"Are you ok sweetie?" he asked, picking me up.
I looked at my hand. I was still shaking.
"Poor you. Dreamy really did it overboard."
"Wait...DREAM???"
"Yeah. That kid wanted to do this little play on how Chinese New Year happened." Mr Nightmare carried me back to the house and plopped me onto the sofa.
"There we go. Want some snacks? We got roasted nuts, those cookies and chips and packet drinks...Oh! Or maybe some mandarin oranges? I just bought some today. Or perhaps some New Year Cake and soda?"
I was pretty jumpy still and decided NOT to take any sweets yet. I was content on eating arrowroot chips and drinking some winter melon drink.
I suddenly felt someone tap my shoulder.
"W-who???" I asked.
"Dream."
I wanted to slap that boy.
I did.
Kaggy walked out of the storeroom and waddled towards us. I was so relieved I cried.
Epilogue...
"Hey Lynx, if you were raised in an Indian family, how is it you still celebrate Chinese New Year?" Blue asked me.
"Well, they know I am Chinese and they want me to still celebrate my culture. So they celebrate it with me, with some customizations." I said, holding the ice bag against Dream's swollen face. "Of course, I also celebrate Deepavali and Thaipusam. Hold still Dream!"
"Ow...Stop it, it hurts!" Dream moaned.
"Well, this wouldn't have happened if you didn't scare Lynx so bad." Mr Nightmare said, carrying my sleeping brother.
"Well sorry...I just wanted to make you happy." He protested.
"Well why?" I asked.
"Cuz you look so sad these days." he pouted.
I sighed.
"You don't have to-"
"Lately, I've been, I've been thinking, I want you to be happier, I want you to be happier!" Dream chorused, earning Blue and Ink's accompaniment.
"Even though I might not like this, I think that you'll be happier, I want you to be happier!"
I just smiled.
