Dad
(Sometimes, a father is the best healer.)
BANG!
*Sniff* *Sob*
Sans, with his back to the door, slid to the ground, hugging his knees close to his chest.
"My dear child, please, let's talk about this!" a familiar voice came from the other side.
"what is there to talk about, huh dad? you lied to me!" the boy twirled his head. His father on the other side sat down and sighed.
"Please, son. I mean not to hurt you." he said. "oh, har dee har, dad. dr. w.d. gaster, famed scientist, best friend to principal asgore, a 'terrific' dad!" Dr. Gaster winced at his son's sarcasm.
"My child, please-"
"enough with the bulls**t dad! you lied to me about everything!" Sans defied. He clenched his fists.
"you said you knew about a cure to mom's cancer, when in reality you know nothing about medicine! you said you won a nobel prize in genetics and chemistry, when you really are just building a prototype that's miles away from getting even a medal! and what's worse? i finally get to see who you really are, ya jerk! do you even love mom? she's gone and instead of missing her, you forget her and leave us behind while you try to build something...something weird!"
"..."
"y'know what? just forget it...i'm probably worth nothing to ya."
Dr. Gaster dropped his glasses onto the floor.
"W-what...?"
"yeah, you heard me, dad. i'm garbage. i know that. you probably never said so since you didn't wanna hurt my feelings. but i know. i'm just nothing." Dr. Gaster could hear the voice breakage.
"Sans? Talk to me." the father demanded.
"*Sigh* i'm sorry dad. i just...i feel very tired from all this, y'know? you lying, me getting hurt, all this is just getting ta my head." he looked down.
"What...what made you say things like that about your worth?" the scientist decided to ask.
Silence.
"Son?"
"sorry, dad...i can't..."
Dr. Gaster felt a shift behind him. He sat up straight and looked behind.
The door was open.
"S-sans...?" he entered the room.
"...!!! Sans what are you doing?!" Dr. Gaster ran up to the boy, who was standing on his bed, trying to fit his head into a rope!
"d-dad...how...did you get in?" he asked. Dr. Gaster grabbed him and lifted him up into the air.
"Just what are you doing?" he asked. He set his son down.
"i...i can't...keep..." he choked, clutching his bedsheets.
"It's ok." the scientist said, hugging his son.
"dad?"
"...?"
"happy...happy father's day." he passed him something.
It was a pretty picture of four people. Sans, Dr. Gaster, Mrs. Gaster and Papyrus were standing there, smiling.
"don't forget dad." Sans whispered.
"Don't forget."
