Sports Day 2018
On 11th March 2018, which is yesterday, the Sports Day of SMK Damansara Jaya was held. It took place in the stadium of University Malaya, located near Bangsar.

I participated one of the main events - the marching of the Sports Houses. I am in the Green House A.K.A. Hebat. My brother joined too, so we both went there early in the morning at 6am to do the final practice: Maju (Marching), belok (Turning) and the most important part, the formations. All the girls braided their hair (Even me, who has short hair. It was a small braid.) and on the braid one of the commanders sprayed green. Each marcher had their faces painted (On the cheeks and chin) with green and black lines. We all looked like warriors going into battle.

As most of the marchers and many of the athletes and spectators couldn't go there on their own, we had ordered a bus of convenience. By 6.50am, we all gathered in the canteen to board the bus. Only problem was, there was no bus! We all waited in the parking lot for the bus to come, but even until 7.10am, there was no bus. It drove the students crazy.

To lighten up the mood, each house taught the House members the marching and cheer chants.

For Hebat, the chants go like this:
Marching: "Move aside! Hebat let's fight! Hey! Hey! Hebat let's fight!"
Cheer: "This side let us hear you yell, 'H-E-B-A-T! Let's go Hebat!'"

By 8.30am, the marchers decided to show what they can do. Each  House march performed their Formation C, which consisted of their special Marching Chant.

By the time 9.00am struck, the students had given up hope that they would ever make it to the stadium. The houses mixed, friends chatting away as if there was no competition at all.

Suddenly, the students started shouting. They were cheering at the top of their lungs as if their salvation had arrived.

It did.

As if on cue, the large vehicle rumbled down the road and eventually came to a stop, two more on the way. The teachers ordered the running and high jump athletes to line up while the marching commanders and cheer captains controlled their members.

The first bus was soon loaded with athletes and the marchers had to wait for the remaining buses. As there were not enough seats, some of them had to stand up.

By the time we reached the stadium, our disciplinary teacher, Puan Low, was barking orders at us to maintain order. We were guided by some kind students and teachers to our seats. Each House separated by a boundary.

The original plan was tweaked, with the 800 meter run starting first. Then next came 4 X 100 meters, 200 meters, 400 meters, high jump and finally the baton pass race. (There are girls category and boys category.)

We turned into one of the closing ceremonies, the first being the award giving for athletes and the last a special announcement. We stood in position and waited for our turn. Tension filled the air as we marched to the middle, our commander gave us the order to salute and stop. We carried out or Formation A, Formation B and Formation C the best we could. In the heat of the march, we screamed our lungs out (It really hurt and I nearly couldn't breathe.) and gave it our all. The commander later treated us to cold 100 Plus. (Yay!)

The next was the cheer display, with the chants and the amazing stunts, I could sense the danger of the sport but at the same time, the dedication of each and every cheerleader.

In the last moment, the announcement for the winning house came. The Red House, A.K.A. Maju, won for almost everything except for the cheer performance, won by the Blue House, A.K.A. Berjaya.

The interesting part was that every marching group was given medals. (That made my day!)

We came out, confused the bus wasn't around and feared the same thing that happened that morning would happen again. Luckily, the buses were just a short walk away.

What happened? Well, it turns out the bus driver was confused about the date and the bus company could not make more arrangements. Other bus companies were fully booked but luckily one company could make an impromptu for go and come back.

We finally reached back at school and our parents were there too.

Finally, this confusing yet awesome Sports Day for 2018 was over.
